I eventually made a short film focusing on ideologies of motherhood within film, how are they represented and the problems that arise. I wanted to combat these standardized portrayals and depict a true realistic representation of motherhood and further present this to the masses of film audiences to create a conversation which is often obscured in media as a result of the rigid representations throughout time. It is over-layed with a collection of interviews I gathered from mothers. I also created an accompanying document resembling that of a family photo in a series of three 4×6 sized images I created on Photoshop, showing both mothers in film and home footage, along with my own mothers writing of some key quotes from my film.
Writing Women.
What does it mean to be feminine? Where do the lines blur? What is a mother? Obscured translations of films.
