Forever Kettle
The Forever Kettle is a product that explores extending the life of household appliances through the use of a unique design language and instruction booklets to help the user identify faults and maintain their product through repairing and replacing components.
Forever Kettles size forces users to use the exact amount of water they require. This is because boiling too much water can make the heating element burn out much sooner meaning that it becomes less energy efficient and will need replacing. Thereby making people use less water the heating element lasts long and is more efficient. The maximum amount of water is 3 average cups as the majority of users boil the kettle for themselves.
The bold colours of the plastic components help the user identify the areas that can be taken apart and repaired with colour coding showing the difficulty of the disassembly. The main body is moulded from glass as the user will be more inclined to clean as the dirt will be constantly visible.
Reinventing The Wheel
Reinventing the wheel is a future gazing exploration into the over complicated nature of car interior for a shared car experience. This will lead to the inevitable confusion that ensues when figuring out how use the multitude of different vehicles offered through shared car services such as Zipcar or Turo.
The steering wheel features vital controls that have the ability to slide around the wheel so they can be organised to the users preference to fit their driving style.
The large buttons for the wheel highlight what they are used for so the user can identify them easily. These buttons also provide a feedback that is relevant to the action you are performing; this is so there is more focus on the road and not on where your headlights are.
