The project “Leftovers” is a project about grief and loss. The thoughts and experiences of the those who have lost a loved one are collected and illustrated alongside each other. From the bereaved, to those currently preparing for or experiencing it. The large size of the A1 posters alongside the image of an object left behind by someone who has died gives a glimpse into the overwhelmingness of grief. The text at the bottom is a small reflection upon loss from a real person. The ink used, Iron Oak Gall, dries unevenly, leaving some areas of the object faded, and others darker, much like the memories we are left with. When a person dies, not much thought is given to those leftover. In our current climate, grief is silent, I think it’s time we started talking about it.
