My Final Major Project is about Equality, the way it’s represented and how we as individuals can show it. Equality is meant to grow something truly beautiful inside us like a blooming flower. It has helped us build connections with people rather than using aggressive acts of violence and verbal language.

Unfortunately, some oppose this idea and tend to discriminate against people different from us, whether it be ethnicity, disabled or gender. In some ways, discrimination has somewhat affected us in our everyday lives. An example is being rejected from employment and education which is an experience that’s very personal to me. I have been appalled by my primary research as I have found out that carnivorous/ domestic animals have been subjected to unjustified slaughter and experiments with hunters using stereotypes as an excuse. Some of them end up being muzzled or worse, euthanised. Fictional characters are not exempt from these acts of injustice as several characters in media have been abandoned or bullied at a young age. This can build up stress in victimized people and unless they get the help they need or talk about their issues, after a while their anger will explode and hurt those around them; The kind of behaviour that can destroy relationships.  All these can lead to PTSD building up inside the victim and cause them to become an embittered man who has their personality changed permanently!

That’s why we need to help those who suffer. Illustrations and novels expose the nature of man and the consequences of their actions. What we can do is unlike the horrible “Karen-like” antagonists in films and media, we need to take the time to get to know each other rather than resorting to acts of verbal/ physical violence, otherwise the whole thing could result in an endless war! So let’s try to build a better future in which we can comfortably leave our homes and enter into a new improved society.
