Persephone Ng (b.1995), a multi-media artist from Hong Kong, currently based in London, studying MFA at Kingston School of Art. She was exposed to various media and mediums during her BA studies which later enabled her to develop her own unique style.
Persephone loves to explore the freedom and happiness of simple yet transformative art. She explores the tiny details of everyday objects, including still-life objects, moving creatures, and humans. Her practice is trying to bring out the beauty of the details of ordinary subjects. Persephone looks to capture the beauty of the mundane through lines, colours and shades. She finds it incredibly satisfying to watch her creations come to life.
Persephone always draws upon her Asian heritage. She often intertwines East Asian elements (including Hong Kong culture, Traditional Chinese culture and Japanese culture) into her compositions. Her latest work, Gyokairui, is a 7-metre drawing subjecting various aquatic animals usually used as sushi ingredients. This drawing is expressing that Persephone is longing to visit Japan and taste some fresh seafood, sashimi and sushi.
