I wanted to find out what objects were classed as efficient and why certain designs are used as the definition. My research was going outside into public and looking at what efficient designs already exist in the everyday. I took these apart on paper and discovered why they are so successful. I’m interested in designs that use colour as a shortcut to convey information. I looked at traffic cones, road signs, hazard signs etc. Having researched these I questioned what other problems could they solve.
I have designed a range of plates that use graphic language and luminescent colours to draw your attention to what it is you are eating. Using understandable colours in a new and efficient way to highlight the dangers of eating unhealthy food.
I tested with different fabrics to emulate the bright colour combinations that are present in signs. I looked at the voice of patterns/ symbols and how they have been used as a shortcut to displaying information.
