This project is about the expression of nostalgia and contemplation of personal emotions, depicting a dual vision of the past and the present, of dreams and everyday life. My cousin and I grew up together, almost sharing a childhood. Yet I realised as we reminisced together about our past that we had different memory focuses on the same event. By sorting through these “different” memories, I can better understand what I liked, what I was looking forward to, and why I regretted it.
It’s a special way for me to understand: who I am.
I’ve always had a keen interest in the utility of illustration. I like to work with bright colours and strong emotions, and I want my work to resonate emotionally with the viewer. I am still in the process of exploring my visual language and experimenting with different forms of painting.
