‘Focal Point’ Intends to reintroduce an area of focus within a room.

Contemporary and modern homes can often lack the historical familiarity we know and love, in turn creating living spaces without central focus. Fireplaces have served as places of warmth, food preparation and social sanctum, drawing families together, whilst simultaneously creating a place for display and curation.

‘Focal Point’ takes note of traditional fireplaces and Japanese Tokonoma alcoves to accommodate curation, with a display mantlepiece, chimney breast book rest and alcove structure. Additionally, featuring a lit plinth, echoing the warmth and glowing hue of a burning fire.

The chosen materials continue the referencing of traditional fireplaces, with the main body’s, sustainably focused oiled valchromat, emulating a stone finish, whilst the raw, brushed aluminium extends the lit plinths intensity.
