With increasing poverty and food shortage in this world, we humans end up consuming more which results in more waste. One of the most challenging tasks is to preserve the environment and reuse as much as possible is an essential part of our living. An initiative towards recycling with the least energy consumption and further using the waste products is and should be our priority
This project ‘The Spice Farm’ targets using food waste with the resources available in the environment. To further use the food waste and give it back to the society

The former House Mill building located in East London is surrounded by residential areas that include houses, schools, universities, retail, etc. The House Mill is also surrounded by a lot of natural resources such as the river. The secondary purpose behind designing the Spice Farm and restaurant is to cater to the needs of migrants from South Asian countries.
By providing spices majorly used in South Asian cuisine and providing a platform for them to see and learn how to grow spices in a greenhouse. The site also provides a platform for the community to sit down together and have food of their origin. It also serves as a great opportunity for students to learn the breaking down of food waste and the art of
farming.

Making the best of its environment, this project targets collecting food waste from the neighboring areas in East London and breaking it down to produce fertilizers. The breakdown process involves algae which are found on the river and also grown on-site.
The fundamental purpose of the program is to design projects that recycle food waste without endangering the environment and give back to its main source and hence
forming a circular economy.
