Generation Z has is developing a growing reputation for its lack of care, its disengagement with political and social issues. I feel there is a real truth to the articles, documentations, accounts made about generation Z and its unwillingness to engage in political and social activism. However, amidst the shitposting chaos of distraction that is much of social media, there is a small but truly passionate minority who care and act for their future. Along with the decline of youth engagement in such issues, there has been a decline in active, physical and confrontational protest. People now would much rather take peaceful action to cause meaningful chaos for their cause, than to approach with violence as was popular in the late 20th century. With this, the law has changed. Through an increasingly right wing government, the youth’s legal right to protest itself has been vastly restricted with very little resistance.
With all that there is to destruct, contain, ignore and overcome efforts of this passionate minority of generation z, they are often forgotten. I am looking at how and why this change has come about, but also exploring how this minority could grow into a majority once again.
