My work is an exploration of my interests, and how they intersect with design and can be relevant and interesting to an audience. I like to call myself a ‘Jack of All Trades, Master of None’ because I have no specifically refined skills, and like to try my hand at everything and get a feel of the work that goes into the project, even if that means it’s not as ‘polished’ as it could be. My desire for trying new things as well as my attachment to and interest in things from my childhood is what underpins my work, and I often describe it to people as ‘misc kitsch’.
The two projects shown here are my Final Major Project ‘Time to Grow Down’, which was a commentary on adult interest in childhood pleasures such as old toys and playing pretend, and the stigma surrounding that topic, and ‘Sh*t That’s Hot’, a project where, after years of longing, I finally got to play with glass, and made literally the stupidest thing I possibly could have out of it.
Designer, maker, illustrator just playing around, having fun, and hopefully making cool things. A big believer in design not always needing to serve a higher purpose – it’s time we create just to create again.
