The main objective of this project is to improve the understanding of the experiences of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to identify common challenges, issues, and examples of best practices. The design aims to create an environment tailored to the needs of individuals with autism, providing them with a comfortable space for self-expression and a sense of belonging. This promotes a more accessible involvement in educational activities, ensuring that their disability does not hinder their progress in a detrimental manner. Within this initiative, I seamlessly integrated architecture with the distinct requirements of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), igniting a remarkable interchange of interdisciplinary insights.
What happens if, rather than seeing disability as an issue that architecture is expected to solve, I try to answer some basic ‘questions’ through design about how diverse human bodies can actually occupy built spaces?
