Alena German-Shakhly (b. 2002, St. Petersburg) is a London artist who focuses on familial relationships when making her work. She produces installations that reflect memories of her home and family, with close ties to textiles and pre-loved clothing. Whilst installation is her main focus at the moment, she also specialises in sculpture, drawing and photography, which are often used as elements in her current practice.
The main intention is for the audience to experience a feeling they can relate to, and to unite the viewers in that feeling despite their differences.
